Image Quality

The resolution is 1080p, but don’t worry if you are used to 4K images. You still get an amazing onscreen picture. The projector uses advanced 3LCD technology. Colors are vibrant and accurate in every frame. Add in the 16,000:1 contrast ratio, and you get dynamic images.

You won’t need a dedicated theater room with the 1080 projector. It comes with a 210-watt bulb producing 3,400 lumens. Images are bright and crisp in most lighting, but you may want to close the blinds if the afternoon sun shines in the room.

Audio Quality

The onboard speakers are an improvement over the ones in most TVs, but you will probably want to upgrade to an external pair. The 2.0-watt mono speaker is enough to hear crisp dialogue, but sound effects may sound muted, along with music.

The speakers are a convenient addition for anyone just getting started setting up a home theater system.

Pros

  • 3LCD technology
  • Bright lumens lamp
  • Wired connectivity
  • Built-in 2W speaker
  • Miracast support

Cons

  • The projector does not support wireless streaming

Connectivity

With two HDMI ports and USB inputs, including one for composite, you won’t have a problem connecting your external devices. When you are ready to upgrade the speakers, you’ll find a 3.5mm audio output on the control panel.

Using a plug-in or another connected device, you can access your favorite streaming channels. The 1080 HD projector does not support wireless connectivity, but it is compatible with Miracast.

Ease of Installation and Set-Up

Epson Home Cinema 1080 connections

You will need around 7’ of space to cast 100” images. It is a standard-throw projector making it ideal for most homes and larger apartments. Weighing a little over 8lbs, you can easily move the projector around. When it comes to placement, you have the option of a table or wall mount.

It won’t take long to align the images even when the projector isn’t centered on the screen. An onboard sensor automatically aligns each frame to prevent images from warping. Horizontal and vertical keystone correction lets you fine-tune the picture, along with 1.2x manual zoom.

Consumer Impressions

Overall, consumer impressions are positive with the bright light source and flexible installation two of their favorite features. Consumers like being able to take the projector outside. They also appreciate built-in Miracast support. The onboard speakers are disappointed, but it is not considered a deal-breaker for most buyers.

Conclusion

The Epson Home Cinema 1080 comes with everything a beginner needs to start an entertainment system. You even get an onboard speaker eliminating one component you need to buy. You will want to replace the built-in it’s not powerful enough to fill a large area with sound. (>>> Check current price on Bhphotovideo)

Low audio power and HD resolution instead of 4K are the biggest drawbacks to the projector. It is affordably priced for most budgets, produces bright images, and you won’t have any problems using the projector indoors or outside.

It comes down to what you want in a home theater projector and how much you are willing to pay. Hopefully, this Epson Home Cinema 1080 review will help.
