Image Quality

4K UHD resolution and a DLP display ensure amazing image quality. The projector also displays 107% of the BT.2020 color spectrum. You get bright, accurate colors whether you are watching a movie or using the projector for gaming.

The contrast ratio is a little low at 3,000:1. However, you still get crisp whites and inky blacks, especially when the projector is in HDR mode.

A 2,800 lumens rating can seem like it limits the projector’s use in the daytime. Remember, it’s an ultra-short throw projector making it easier to compensate for ambient light.

Sound Quality

Audio quality isn’t a common projector feature, but the Formovie model is different. It’s capable of casting images up to 150” and has an onboard sound system to go with the large picture. Bowers & Wilkins, combined with Dolby Atmos sound technology ensures the audio is just as impressive as the image quality.

Pros

  • 4K resolution
  • Onboard sound system
  • Ultra-short throw distance
  • Easy setup
  • Input lag is fast enough for casual gaming

Cons

  • Does not support 3D content

Ease of Installation and Set Up

It is an ultra-short throw projector, so you don’t need a lot of space. Depending on your space, and desired image size, you can place the projector inches from the screen.

An included table mount secures the projector in place. The laser TV projector is a slightly hefty model at a little over 21 lbs. It’s not a projector you want to continuously move around, especially after using the table mount. For reference on placement, the projector measures 22 x 14 x 5 inches. It’s compact enough to fit on most shelves and end tables.

Aligning onscreen images comes down to the projector’s placement. It does not come with a lens shift, and the zoom ratio is fixed. It can make it a little difficult to find the best location for placement.

Connectivity

Formovie Theater connections

The projector is compatible with Chromecast and Google Smart Home for easy operation. ALLM technology supports most gaming devices and automatically switches the laser TV projector to gamine mode. MEMC technology ensures images play smoothly, including games and live sporting events.

You also get three 2.1 HDMI ports for your connected devices.

Gaming Quality

Even though it’s not a projector designed for gamers, casual players are not going to experience any issues with input lag. You will drop down to full HD resolution when the projector senses a connected gaming console. Your input lag is around 16ms, which is fast enough to keep up with most games.

Consumer Impressions

Consumers are overall impressed with the award-winning projector. Many are replacing their televisions with this laser TV projector. It’s easy to install, thanks to its short-throw distance. The internal Dolby-supported speakers are also an improvement over a standard TV. The lack of 3D support is disappointing and the refresh rate in 4K is only 60hz. However, overall consumers have few complaints about the projector.

Conclusion

The Formovie theater projector is an award-winning model (>>> Check current price on Projectorscreen). It’s also easy to see why it’s becoming popular with consumers looking to replace their TVs with this home theater projector. You get 4K resolution, compatibility with Google and Chromecast, and an internal sound system that beats out most TVs. If you are searching for an ultra-short throw projector, loaded with features, this one is worth taking a look at.
